Graduate of a degree in art history and a master’s degree in urban planning at the Université de Montréal, Marie-Josée Vaillancourt specialized her professional profile in urban planning to propose solutions for spatial organization cities problems. To do this, she identifies the main issues, proposes diagnostics and intervention paths according to a socio-spatial and multiscale approach considering the vision of the different actors involved.
During her academic career, Marie-Josée has developed a particular interest in the cultural, heritage and artistic dimensions of the territory. She conducted a comparative study between the Mont-Royal and La Prairie heritage sites and coordinated the drafting of a municipal conservation plan for the Sault-au-Récollet heritage site. She has also completed an exploratory study on the planification of the insertion of public works of art in Montreal as part of her final master’s work.
