Jérôme Payette has 10 years of experience in the arts and culture sector. He completed a Master in Management with a thesis about the influence of civil society on cultural development, a Specialized Graduate Diploma in Arts Management, and a BA in Jazz performance. He is member of Culture Montreal’s Board of Directors and Political Committee and is an invited speaker at HEC Montréal’s Les politiques culturelles graduate course.

He has been appointed to UNESCO (Paris) by the Quebec Ministry of International Relations to work on the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. He participated in the implementation of the Convention, conducted research and analysis on cultural policies linked to culture and development, cultural cooperation and the status of culture in international trade agreements. He also wrote about the impact of digital technologies on cultural diversity, contributed to the International Fund for Cultural Diversity fundraising strategy, wrote briefings, speeches and other texts. He prepared official documents for the 8th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee, at which 100 countries were represented.
