Jenny Ginder is the Principal of Ginder Consulting, a firm dedicated to developing and implementing capacity building strategies for the cultural sector. Building on a career in government and culture, Jenny’s consulting has focussed on strategic planning, facilitation, government relations, research and cultural policy with a broad range of clients including professional arts organizations, art service organizations, government departments and agencies. She is a skilled facilitator with certificates in Facilitated Planning and Consensus Workshop delivery through ICA Associates and IAP2’s Planning for Effective Public Participation.
Jenny has worked in communities large and small. Regardless of the size and scope of the project, Jenny brings strategic thinking, business acumen, project management and effective communication techniques to all the projects she undertakes.
Projects undertaken in the past year include: Research and Analysis of Online Grant Management Systems (Toronto Arts Council); Business Planning (Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre, Royal and McPherson Theatre Society); and Community Consultation (Art Starts, Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund); and Strategic Planning for the Ontario Arts Council, Artists’ Health Alliance and Buddies in Bad Times Theatre. Jenny frequently collaborates with other consulting firms on projects that require a mix of skills and experience. She led consultation processes for the Kingston Cultural Plan (with the Canadian Urban Institute), the Peterborough Cultural Plan (with Dialog) and the Queen Elizabeth Park Cultural Community Centre for the Town of Oakville (with Tucker Reid and Associates).
Before turning to consulting in 2000, Jenny’s career spanned government and the cultural sector. For five years she served as Director of Government Relations for the Canadian Opera Company, with senior management responsibility for the strategic positioning of the company with public sector decision-makers.
On the volunteer front, Jenny is currently the Past President of Arts Consultants Canada/Consultants canadiens en arts, serves on the Board of Dance Umbrella Ontario, the Advocacy Committee for the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts, and ArtsVote.
