The Environmental Scan constitutes a major component of the Accès culture network’s effort and covers activities organized by 22 arts presenters (performing arts and exhibition facilities) in Montréal.
The Environmental Scan reveals that the network has presents over 2, 292 professional cultural activities, of which 2, 113 have been performing arts presentation. The network proposed 179 exhibitions, mainly in the visual arts, and attracted 603 812 participants (446 109 spectators for performing arts presentations and 157 703 visitors to exhibitions).
The young audience including students represents 25% of total audience. Performances offered by Accès culture present the next generation of artists enrolled in art schools. Music, theater and dance constitute the disciplines most frequently presented. Based on the Environmental Scan’s findings, Art Expert formulated several recommendations concerning the cultural presentation, the offer, demand, cultural facilities, as well as human and financial resources.
The Environmental Scan was performed by ArtExpert in collaboration with Mc Conseil and ZBA, following a call to bid in the autumn of 2008.
